MVW Styling Challenge № 1: Retro Couture Mix & Match

Yesterday I had my very first Miss Virtual World styling challenge as we presented our interpretation of Retro Couture Fashion can encompass from the 30's to the 70's.

I picked 1940's cause clothing from the 40's never really went out of style and continues to make strong fashion statements in today2s trends! I mixed and matched three different outfits to make a stunning full length 40s gown. Puffed sleeves with lovely details fit to just below the elbow, satin flower ribbon on the bodice (part of Donna Flora Jazzy Gown)  teamed with the floor length layers of skirt (part of Bliss Couture Termina Gown) and ruffle hip skirt (part of CM Rosalita cocktail dress)  really is just divine!

The women of 1940s Hollywood always had their hair meticulously styled. Whether it was worn down in a soft wave, pulled back at the sides, or swept up, hair was first curled to give it the necessary volume. Complicated styles -such as victory rolls, pin curls or finger waves - were popular.  So to give the correct look I mixed and matched Vanity Hair Pin Up and Donna Flora Alessia updo.

Eye makeup was kept fairly tame, with mascara and eyeliner on the top lid. You can't complete your 1940's Hollywood costume without red lipstick. Nail color generally matched a woman's lipstick color...

Ladies, I hope you enjoy :) ♥
